Your First House

The Introduction...

I was about 30 when my fiancé and I bought a house together, it was a competitive market and after losing many, many houses we landed one that was at the upper maximum of our budget.

The closing day came, we met with the attorneys and after signing away our lives for the next 30 years, we owned a house.

They sent us away, keys in hand into the great big world of home ownership.

Giddy with the possibilities we went directly to the house. I felt like I was doing something wrong when I put the key in the door, like someone was going to show up and say, “Get out of here kid!!!”

The very first time we toured the house prior to buying it, my fiance pointed out that she loved the fake brick back splash in the kitchen. Upon entering the kitchen as the new owners, it was the first thing she wanted me to rip out.

I took in the enormity of the undertaking, mortgage, potential family, wedding etc. and sat in the corner of the very empty living room.

The whole while wondering, when are the adults going to show up and explain everything.

If you are also looking around for the adults, I hate to tell you, it’s you.

This book is as close to a home owners manual as you can get!

I wrote this book to address the many questions I received from first time homeowners that frankly didn't have a clue as to how to navigate new home ownership. I tried to address small to larger issues, what you need to know on day one, and even tool box essentials.

Buy the book, fund my retirement!

There are other books out there trying to do the same thing, I just tried to make it a little fun along the way!
